Literature Text
To suffer is to know your breathing,
Cold air over your lungs like mist on water,
To stay is to admit you're scared of leaving,
Please help me brother, ohh brother,
*to be written chorus*
Long live the reckless & the brave,
And every scar makes them proud of who they are,
And all they fight against is those forgotten graves,
Don't give up now, you got so far.

How To Raise A Borderline
Don’t recognize your child’s needs,
or at the very least see them as
secondary to your own.
Ignore your child’s tears;
tell them to buck up.
Better yet,
tell them if they don’t stop crying
you’ll give them something to cry about.
That outta teach ’em.
Weigh them down with adult demands.
Expect them to cook dinner
at nine years old
because you’ll be home late.
Force them to grow up too fast,
or don’t allow them to grow up at all
because in a child’s dependent role
is where you can control them.
Don’t be consistent,
with anything.
Change your values like you change your sex partners
Literature
Things they don't tell you.
Things they don’t tell you about losing your grandfather on a Tuesday night:
When you wake the next morning, you still
need to get out of bed in time for work, you still
have to shower, dress yourself, eat breakfast, brush
your teeth and hair;
and when your mother calls
to check in, you have to comfort her because she lost
her dad last night;
and when you call your grandmother
your voice cannot waver lest you upset her, because
she lost a man she's known for seventy years and even
though she would never hold it against you, you still
feel obligated not to cry;

maybe you'll find this
i want to tell you so much
like how one day you'll meet a kid
who steps on butterflies for fun
and you'll probably hate him
but i want you to think about the possibility that
maybe someone stepped on his wings
and he can't understand how they can fly but he
can't.
.
or like another kid who slit your friend's wrist with the glass from the library door
and killed a snake by thrashing its skull on the sidewalk
and kicked a kitten who had just been run over that morning and was barely holding on.
you'll probably hate him, too.
and i want you to remember
that russian orphanages are no place to learn morals
that severe brain damage is permanent i

To be honest, I think the second verse would make a great chorus.
