Literature Text

I couldn't quite place that smile, or the way that your hips moved.
I couldn't quite put my finger on the lies that your eyes proved.
The words ran staccato past my hand.
As the other hand was on you thigh.
I wanted to speak, because sober I can't.
Enchanted by that smile and lost in your eyes.
I couldn't quite constellate them, consumed by the what if's and hurt
I couldn't quite speak up, too tongue tied to assemble the word.
The way my everything resisted all.
As if I tumbled long before the fall.
Or the falling out, lost in calling out.
Your name, never to hear, yet always in shame.
And I will be to blame, If that's the easy part.
I will forget that name, carry the heavy heart.

I will be to blame, if it's to ease your heart
